Sad as it is to admit, I'm no longer as thrilled about podcasting as I was a few months ago. So many shows sound like shit that it's difficult to work up much enthusiasm about it. Still, when you find the diamond in the rough it makes for a happy day.
Even my own podcast has become something of a routine what with trying to find interviewees, doing the interview, editicng the interview, yadda yadda yadda. On the other hand, I enjoy doing my podcast more than the two pirate radio shows I do. In fact, I've been blowing off my radio shows because creating my own podcast is far more rewarding than playing other people's material.
And fuck, I've been doing community and pirate radio for 15 years now without making a dime and I'd be thrilled if I could make a living off of it. That's why I say, you go, lesbian!

This is a silly tech question, but i just can't seem to find the answer for it. i've heard you mention the pitch-shift on the ipod so you can listen to files at a higher speed, but i can't seem to figure out how to do it. can you help a listener, embarassed that he can't figure it out for himself?

Madge, i think you're absolutely right about the novelty of podcasting wearing off. Also, podcasting is no longer that nice little community that it used to be. Instead, there seems to be a sense of hostility towards the more popular shows, everybody wants to be number one. But why? Think about it, everything that is rated as number one the "traditional" media sucks. The number one song? Sucks. Best rated TV show? Sucks. Number one movie at the box office? Sucks. (the exception here of course is Howard Stern)
So i think it's a good thing that you don't care about the Podcastalley ratings anymore. I dunno if you had a gut feeling about the fact that the podcastalley rating system is in some degree to blame for taking the fun out of podcasting, but your timing is perfect.

Disco Stu, you'll need to convert your MP3 files to AAC in iTunes, and rename the extensions from .m4a to m4b. Your files will then show up as audiobooks, and you can use the audiobook function on your ipod to speed 'em up

I dont' tihnk I was clear about what I meant what with the novelty wearing off. What I meant is that listeners will settle down after being obsessed with it for a few weeks or months and pick just a few shows that they like and perhaps a channel to sample once in a while to see what else is going on. I think this behavior is true of pretty much all media.
And yes Mr. Caldersbanks, I would love to see podcast alley become less of a high school popularity cunt test and more of a way for people to match their interests and tastes up with the available programming.

I agree the novelty of podcasting has definately worn off, I rarely listen these days apart from yeast, most podcasts are a waste of time, I'm back to listening to music again and loving it ! No one is going to make any cash from this but people may get spotted or heard and hired for something in radio / tv etc, I'd hope you are spotted soon madge. I predict the podshow sirius thing will be shortlived - I give it two months tops before it's axed.
I loathe Podcast alley it makes me sick - How is the daily source code still in the top10 ? I know it has a huge listener base but who votes for it still ? NO ONE, chris mcintyre leaves it on the top10 because he thinks it adds a little credibility to his worthless site ! I mean we probably all listen to the Daily Source Code right?, but who is taking the time to vote for it ? Adam doesn't ask people to vote and the only way to get in the top 10 at podcast alley is to ask people to vote ? so how the fuck is adam always in the top10 ???????? oh anyway fuck podcasting, fuck podcast alley, long live Madge Weinstein - this cunt deserves so much more than a site on the internet, fuck the world too, I'm off to a bar now to start a fight ! p.s. paris hilton has given up on podcasting after 5 shows maybe because she didn't make the top10 at podcast alley !!!!

Weinstein this probably sounds weird but I had a dream last night about www.yeast3.com, make this site happen and it will pay off, post whatever audio gets sent your way and remove any reference to the word "podcast" on the site, change your logos to read "radio" and don't mention the word "cunt" on air. You will need to go by the name Moo-Loo on this site (like in my dream) trust me you will be huge if you follow these simple steps.

I had the exact same dream !!!!! except Madges new name was Moo-Laa ???? I might be mistaken though, hang on it was Moo-Loo it was Moo-Loo!!!!!

I had this dream last week, but Madge was still Madge Weinstein and not Moo-Loo ? what does this dream mean ? I'm kindof freakin' out !
