oh god i hate talking politics, well i don’t think that answer covers the whole picture…
yes the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries are more wealthy than other arab countries and have higher income because of the oil, but thats not new that have been going on since the 60s and people start getting the benefits when the economy grew in late 70s early 80s…
but lately actually the economy have suffered in the GCC countries when stock market crashed last year many people lost all their savings specially in Saudi Arabia the biggest market of the gulf countries where the population growth is high so is the unemployment rate…
the government of Dubai (one of the seven emirates that form the UAE) on the other hand have witnessed an exceptional growth in the last ten years because they start to be less Dependant on oil for their economy and more on free trade and tourism, in compare to the other emirates Dubai’s economy is far ahead, the other emirates now trying to take Dubai’s example…
and finally Qatar had huge growth in last few years when the American military HQ in the gulf region moved there where they offer more accommodation…
well I’m not an expert but these are my views
