For simply using words like “bitch”, “whore” and “cunt”, you are NOT a fucking misogynist. Stop calling yourself that and almost being proud about it. Actions speak louder than words. You are pro-choice, go to protests and fight hard for equal rights. Anyway, many post-feminists have reclaimed such words because they see it as a symbol of women’s power and strength and exploit the word’s shock value to bring up women’s issues. I mean, even the word “vagina” is pretty offensive and is rooted in misogyny (it is literally Latin for “a sheath for a sword”, sword = penis), shouldn’t we all be above defining political idealogies by word use?
I’ll have to listen to the Eat Bird show (it’s not upbloated yet) but if Rachel is calling you a misogynist then I’m going to be really disappointed in her. What a old fashioned view of feminism. Calling someone a misogynist for overusing the word “cunt” (especially a character who has obvious satirical aspects) is about as feminist as cheesy t-shirt slogans “REAL women have curves” and “Boys like blondes, men like brunettes”. I’m a boderline feminazi (yes, I am male) and I find your show and brand of comedy very feminist in that you use many vaginal metaphors even when discussing politics (in a society where tired penis jokes rule the world of “comedy”) and talk frankly about female sexuality (but never in a exploitive, demeaning way). Sure, you poke fun at “goddess” lesbian cliches, but never in a mean-spirited way. Think about it. Would a gay male who hates women and who thinks they’re inferior and don’t deserve rights spend their professional acting/radio career essentially emulating a female through drag?

I think people get their science from entertainment because the media, aside from Nova, has never made any attempt to give the public the benefit of the doubt that they will be able to understand science. When it comes to matters of genetics, or the enviornment, medicine, physics etc. the media is very patronizing and panders to the lowest common denominator. If they would just present the facts in an intelligent manner then I think people would approach it in a more intellectual way. There is no reason why everyone can’t understand #1 the scientific method and #2 the basic underpinnings of each branch of basic science that have a profound effect in our everyday lives.
