Thanks for this podcast. Interesting comments on Dutch system etc. For me, the main point is that regardless of various little problems & complaints with systems in Canada, UK, Holland, or wherever else in the developed world EXCEPT the good old US of A, they DO consider health care a right.
So while those systems may not be perfect, at least they do provide some health care for everyone. Not like this savage land where Republicans would happily leave people to die on the street.
I have diabetes and, as a self-employed person, have a terrible time trying to get covered. Lots of other people in my position — millions. And I don’t take too kindly to self-righteous liberals in places like Massachusetts who think that the current bill should be defeated because it’s not perfect. For some of us, it’s the only chance we’ll get.

pointless to argue that single-payer wouldn’t work in “this world”. This line of argument leads only to less and less, because the insurance lobbyist argue exactly the same way around with the us system, iow why cant we in [insert country with public healthcare] have a “liberal” system like in the usa.
usa should show some innovation and declaration of new rights and social benefits. like you were proud once about your democracy.
